If you’re travelling through a dangerous city known for pick pockets and crime, it never hurts to have a money stash that is quite literally a part of your outfit. The Atitlan Leather Men’s Leather Money Belt is a stylish and affordable solution for those who are looking for a little extra peace of mind.

What sets it apart from similar products?

Firstly, the belt is made from pretty good quality leather, although certainly on the softer side. The buckle is solid and well made and the hidden zip (about 14 inches long) is sturdy and durable. For the price – you’re getting a great belt regardless of the extra pocket to hide your cash.

How much cash can I hide?

The Atitlan Money Belt comfortably fits 10 US sized bills, folded in half. You can squeeze more in but in starts to become noticeable past this point. Unfortunately, the belt doesn’t fit credit cards, however, a belt that wide wouldn’t fit most pants loops so the point is somewhat moot. Remember, your using this as a last resort option in case you lose your bag/travel wallet/documents and need emergency cash to get through a situation.

The zippered stash compartment is close to the buckle, allowing easy access to the contents inside. I recommend photocopying your passport and credit card and keeping this paper folded inside with some bank notes as well. The buckle is also interchangeable so if you feel like switching it up you’re free to do so.

Look and Feel

It’s important to note this particular belt only comes in brown, and also customers have recommended ordering 2 full sizes above their normal waist size. Eg, if you are a size 32, order the 36. There were also some reports of the belt stretching a little in tropical climates, if you’re using this belt every day, expect some wear and tear after not too long.
